In this training mission prior to the Sheppard's launch, the crew investigates a powerful energy source on a prewarp planet that seems eerily similar to Earth's medieval Japan.
All missions are currently training missions. They occur in the holodeck until the Sheppard is launched.
Captain's log, Stardate: 100306
Today's mission is going to be a little different - we will be investigating an M-class planet discovered in the same area as our previous missions (lots of ion storms). There appears to be a pre-warp society on the planet but unusually, there is a high energy source present as well as no evidence that the system has had any recent ion storm activity.
I've had the Sheppard change course to investigate.
Computer, end log.
An away team from the Sheppard beamed down to the North Continent of the mysterious planet, with strict orders not to make contact with the local population. At the top of a mountain range, the away team found a core fragment that seemed to have been part of a fusion reactor on a large ship. The fragment emitted high levels of radiation that could be causing ionisation in the surrounding space. Following this discovery, the away team beamed back to the ship in order to discuss how to futher assess the potential retrieval of the core fragment and how to minimise contanimation to the local population.
