Prelude

Captain's Log - Stardate: Unknown (100415)

Location: 184.63 LY Rimward from Pinastri

We have picked up another Cryoban distress signal. There is something very different in the tone of it. It definitely seems automated and repeating. We have minorly diverted off course to investigate. By the time we arrive our sensor systems should be completely operational and Sciences should be able to tell us when we are. This should prove to be an eventful week.

Events

Responding to a distress call from a Cryoban vessel, the USS Shogun crew immediately notes differences in this ship compared to other Cryoban that they had previously encountered. Chief Engineer SVAndrei Baxton and his staff modified two type eleven shuttlecraft in order too boost the sensor range, and perform a flyby of the Cryoban ship. Closer inspection revealed that the Cryoban ship was infected with a pre-cursor to the Borg. The crew noted that the Proto-Borg virus seemed to only assimilate technology and ignored organic matter. At this time the crew noted that there equipment was infected by the Proto-Borg virus. The crew resorted to writing down as much data as possible, and then destroyed their tricorders and other equipment before using the unaffected shuttlecraft to evacuate.
